Sex Education Season 3 Trailer: A New Future for Moordale Begins

Netflix unveils the first trailer for Sex Education season 3, which shows the teen characters acting in a recruitment ad for Moordale Secondary School. Created by Laurie Nunn, the series centers on insecure teenager Otis Milburn as he finds himself ambivalent to sex due to his mother's work as a sex therapist and her frankness with him about all aspects of sexuality. However, after assisting the school bully with his sexual performance anxiety, Otis realizes the potential and establishes a sex advice business with troubled classmate Maeve to help their peers with their problems.

The cast for the series is led by Asa Butterfield as Otis with Gillian Anderson as his sex therapist mother, Emma Mackey as Maeve, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Alistair Petrie, Mimi Keene, Aimee Lou Wood, James Purefoy, and Chaneil Kular. Sex Education has been a hit for Netflix since its debut, scoring rave reviews across its first two seasons and being streamed by over 40 million viewers within the first month of season 1's premiere. Over a year after confirming season 3's development, the series is finally right around the corner to return.

With just two months left until the hit series returns, Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Sex Education season 3. The video sees the teen characters acting in a recruitment video for Moordale Secondary School, promising a new future for aspiring students and cheekily referencing the events of season 2. Though it may not offer much in the way of what audiences can expect from the plot for season 3, the trailer does mark a fun tease of the hit show's impending return. It also offers a glimpse of series newcomer Jemima Kirke as Hope Haddon, the new headmistress of Moordale after Michael Groff was placed on leave in the season 2 finale. With the actress reportedly only signed on for a guest role in season 3, it will be interesting to see how long the former-student-turned-headmistress sticks around in the narrative, especially as the video teases Groff is keeping his presence known on the campus after his dismissal.

Despite the younger headmistress in the role, the new teaser does explain the reasoning behind the students wearing new uniforms in Sex Education season 3 in comparison to the first two chapters as she looks to return it to its former glory. How her efforts will work against Otis and Maeve's business as well as the young students coming to grips with the complicated worlds of relationships and sexuality is sure to be an interesting arc for the next chapter. Luckily the wait is almost over as season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix on September 17.
