What Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Would Look Like If More Age Accurate

New art imagines what Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man would look like if he was just a tad more age-accurate. These days, Spider-Man has been depicted so many times through film and television that fans can form their own opinions about which iterations are the best. However, back in 2002, Maguire was the very first person to step into the role of Peter Parker for film. Maguire gave what for the longest time was the definitive Spider-Man performance across Sam Raimi's iconic trilogy, with his last appearance coming in 2007's Spider-Man 3.

Since then, there have been two other major Peter Parkers on the big screen, with Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland following in Maguire's footsteps. If the rumors are to be believed, all three of them will unite for this year's Spider-Man: No Way Home. The MCU installment is said to delve into the multiverse (a concept supported by the recent season finale of Loki) and feature several actors from past Spider-Man movies. For many, the prospect of seeing Maguire as perhaps an older and wiser Peter is a thrilling one.

Maguire remains one of the most beloved of the big screen Spider-Men. Yet, a frequently cited downside to his time as the web-slinger is his age. When filming Spider-Man, which was the one movie in the trilogy that featured Peter in high school, Maguire was 25, thus making him look a bit older than he should. Over on Reddit, CesarHuchim took some screengrabs from Spider-Man and de-aged Maguire so he looks more like the teen he's supposed to be. The result is a little unnerving at first, but then becomes a fascinating look at what could've been.

As Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy continued, Maguire's age was a bit more fitting as Peter progressed past high school. Still, it's interesting to see what the actor would've looked like had he been playing Spidey at a younger age. One of the reasons so many fans have approved of Holland's performance in the MCU is that he's a believable teenager. That is hardly a knock on Maguire's Spider-Man; if anything, it just highlights the different things each actor has brought to the part of Peter Parker.

Though all signs currently point to Maguire having a part in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel has yet to confirm such a thing. There's a chance the long-awaited trailer for the MCU's third Spider-Man movie will shed more light on this, but it remains to be seen just when it will arrive. Regardless of whether he will ever be seen again on the big screen, Maguire's Spider-Man remains a key part of superhero history, and fans will likely always hold him in high regard. After all, he's still the subject of fan art to this day, which is an impressive achievement in its own right.
