Nintendo Switch Lite Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Special Edition Revealed

Partway through today's Pokémon Presents showcase, Nintendo showcased a first look at the Nintendo Switch Lite Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Special Edition, a new version of the system that launches this coming November. The Pokémon stream in question unveiled several fresh details about the franchise, including news regarding the latest features in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl.

In the Nintendo Switch Lite's nearly two-year history, the portable platform has received a handful of cosmetic designs. Of course, those interested in the device can still get their hands on yellow, light blue, grey, and pink color schemes. But Nintendo has additionally rolled out the Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta Edition, which hit stores in Fall 2019. In the coming months, fans will have yet another option from which to choose when it comes to the Switch Lite. And, yes, the newest edition is Pokémon-centric.

Today's Pokémon Presents broadcast featured multiple reveals, one of which included an unveiling of the Nintendo Switch Lite Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Special Edition. The design itself is all black, with a gold Palkia and a silver Dialga adorning the backside. For some fans, the look may call to mind the Nintendo DS Lite Lite Onyx Diagla & Palkia Edition that the hardware manufacturer rolled out several years ago in 2006. According to the stream, the all-new Nintendo Switch Lite will make its way to stores later this fall on Friday, November 5.

This special edition Nintendo Switch Lite will undoubtedly prove a must-buy for countless Pokémon and Nintendo fans, especially those who find themselves in the market for a Switch this holiday season. And the fancily-designed device is on track to launch only a couple of weeks ahead of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's November 19 due date.

The back half of the year is shaping up to be a good time for new Nintendo hardware. After all, in addition to the special edition Switch Lite, Nintendo plans on deploying the Switch's OLED model in October. It will come equipped with a 7-inch OLED screen, a LAN port, and enhanced audio for $349. Needless to say, the Japanese giant has a profitable few months ahead of it.
