Pokémon GO: Psychic Spectacular Timed Research Tasks (& Rewards)

The Psychic Spectacular event in Pokémon GO has its own set of Timed Research tasks and rewards to complete. Players have been treated to an increased spawn rate of Psychic Pokémon during this event. Many Timed Research challenges for the event are centered around capturing and evolving Psychic-type Pokémon.

The event runs from Wednesday, September 8 at 10 a.m. to Monday, September 13 at 8 p.m. The Timed Research will need to be completed before the deadline, otherwise, all the content and rewards will be removed. With September 13 just a few days away, players will want to complete these as quickly as possible.

This Pokémon GO quest is broken up into five different stages. Fortunately, players won't need to do anything to unlock them; they will be available as soon as the player boots up the game. Players will also have the chance to encounter a Shiny Pokémon for completing the encounter-related Timed Research tasks. These are incredibly difficult to come across outside Community Day events.

The five stages players must complete to fulfill the Timed Research Tasks during Psychic Spectacular event appear below:

  • Stage 1/5: Catch 10 Psychic-type Pokémon (500 XP), Transfer 10 Pokémon (10 Poké Balls) Spin a PokéStop or a Gym (500 Stardust) Rewards: 500 XP, 10 Razz Berries, and an Abra encounter
  • Stage 2/5: Power up Pokémon five times (10 Ultra Balls) Catch 20 Pokémon (Five Pinap Berries) Make five Great Throws (One Fast TM) Rewards: 500 Stardust, 10 Great Balls, and a Ralts encounter
  • Stage 3/5: Hatch an Egg (Bronzor encounter) Evolve two Psychic-type Pokémon (Solosis encounter) Earn a Candy walking with your Buddy (1000 Stardust) Rewards: 500 XP, Five Revives, and a Girafarig encounter
  • Stage 4/5: Send five Gifts to friends (One Charge TM) Use 15 Berries to help catch Pokémon (Xatu encounter) Battle in Go Battle League two times (Meditite encounter) Rewards: 500 XP, One Incense, and a Starmie encounter.
  • Stage 5/5: Battle in a Raid (Five Hyper Potions) Make five Nice Curveball Throws (Baltoy encounter) Use an Incense (One Lure Module) Rewards: 1000 XP, 1000 Stardust, and an Inkay encounter.

The most difficult of these Timed Research tasks will likely be the "Battle in a raid" task. The best thing to do would be to participate in a one-star raid. These have low enough CP for players to complete them on their own. Players can also participate in a three- to five-star raid battle, but it is recommended to participate in these with other players to win.

The "Use 15 Berries to help catch Pokémon" task doesn't actually require players to capture the Pokémon. All they need to do is use a berry and run away for it to count. Players can use a Nanab Berry to clear out their inventory and work toward completing this task.

Players will be given an Inkay encounter as the final prize for completing the last Timed Research task during Pokémon GO's Psychic Spectacular. Inkay and its evolution, Malamar are new to the game and were added during this event.
