Pokémon Unite's New Monster Mamoswine Has Arrived | Screen Rant

The latest Pokémon Unite fighter has been added to the game, introducing Mamoswine to the mobile and Nintendo Switch release. Pokémon Unite's ever-expanding character roster has been regularly introducing new pocket monsters for players to battle with. Many of these, including Mamoswine, have been uncovered ahead of their official announcement thanks to dataminers.

Pokémon Unite is a 5-versus-5 MOBA game in which players battle again opponent Pokémon and score goals to win. The game released earlier this summer on Nintendo Switch, before coming to mobile devices this September. Developer TiMi Studio has been improving and expanding the available roster of characters since launch, not only buffing and nerfing various Pokémon and their abilities to better balance the game, but also adding fan-favorite Pokémon including Blastoise.

Announcing the news on social media, Pokémon Unite has confirmed that Ice/Ground-type Pokémon Mamoswine has arrived in the game today, September 29. On the official Pokémon Unite website, the developer has revealed the character is a Melee Defender that will start each match as Swinub, before evolving into Piloswine at Lv. 6, and Mamoswine at Lv. 10. At Lv. 1 and Lv. 3, Swinub can learn the ranged move Ice Shard and the dash attack, Tackle. Ice Shard can be upgraded into Icicle Crash or Ice Fang once Swinub evolves into Pilowswine, and Tackle can be upgraded to High Horsepower or Earthquake at Lv. 8. Mamoswine’s Unite Move is Mammoth Mash, which is learned at Lv. 10. The website explains Mammoth Mash as follows:

"This area attack has Mamoswine jump to a designated location and become immune to hindrances. Mamoswine then repeatedly stomps the ground, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and decreasing their movement speed for a short time with each stomp. The final stomp throws opposing Pokémon in the area of effect."

Mamoswine's basic attack will become a boosted attack every third time, freezing opponent Pokémon for a short time. Mamoswine players can also expect to see the fighter's basic attacks deal additional damage to those it has frozen. Mamoswine's ability is Thick Fat, which will temporarily increase its Defense and Sp. Defense for a short time (up to three times). In addition, using Ice Shard, Icicle Crash, or Ice Fang, will turn the fighter's next basic attack into a boosted attack. Pokémon Unite adds: "If any of those three moves creates a freezing area of effect inside an ally goal zone, it decreases the goal-scoring speed of opposing Pokémon inside that goal zone."

With some impressive attacks and abilities, Mamoswine is likely to be a popular choice of fighter in Pokémon Unite. As a Melee Defender, the character's endurance and size will make it a good option for those who tend to main Tank characters in combat. Mamoswine is the latest new Pokémon Unite license, meaning players will likely encounter many of them on the battlefield as users figure out if Mamoswine is a good fighter for their playstyle.

Like many Pokémon Unite fighters, Mamoswine's addition to the game was leaked ahead of the official announcement. Dataminers have been able to uncover many of the upcoming pocket monsters planned for the game, with previous leaks discovering references to pocket monsters including Sylveon, Nidoking, and more. Sylveon has been officially announced for Pokémon Unite, making it likely to be the next addition to the game, though its release date is not yet known.
