The Last of Us 2's Ellie & Abby Are Coming to Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Another new Sony DLC is coming to Sackboy: A Big Adventure in the form of The Last of Us Part 2 skins inspired by Ellie and Abby. The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most divisive PlayStation exclusives, in part due its story and character choices which proved unpopular with many players, but that hasn't stopped Ellie and Abby's inclusion in Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

LittleBigPlanet spin-off Sackboy: A Big Adventure released for PlayStation 4 and 5 in late 2020, just a few months after the release of PS4's The Last of Us Part 2 in May. The game features 3D platforming action, changing up the beloved 2.5D levels seen in the LittleBigPlanet series. Since its release, Sackboy: A Big Adventure has introduced various costume DLC for Sackboy, celebrating new PS5 releases including Housemarque's Returnal and Insomniac Games' Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Announcing the news across social media, the official LittleBigPlanet account has revealed that The Last of Us Part 2 costumes will be available for Sackboy: A Big Adventure later this week. The announcement comes with an image of the duo, showing off what the characters will look like when they arrive in the game. The costume DLC will be free for all owners of Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and will be available from the PlayStation Store starting September 26.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure's Last of Us DLC adds a sinister spin to the typical Sackboy design, featuring a scowling Abby complete with her signature tank top, hammer weapon, and blonde hair. Ellie's Sackboy design is just as menacing, showing the brunette wielding her bow and arrow with her tattoo just visible on her right arm. The costumes will be perfect for those who wanted a different ending for enemies Ellie and Abby, allowing those playing Sackboy with a friend to envision a different outcome for the characters.

While Abby and Ellie will soon come to Sackboy, their future within the Naughty Dog canon remains unclear. The developer has previously stated The Last of Us Part 2 won't get story DLC, but that a standalone multiplayer for the game is on the way. The team has been pretty quiet on the upcoming release, with a title and trailer yet to be revealed. Earlier this year, Naughty Dog job listings teased that The Last of Us 2 multiplayer is still in development, though when fans will hear more is unknown. For now, the Abby and Ellie Sackboy costumes might have to suffice as the characters' next outing.
