New Mjolnir Grants 'Power of All-Vengeance' in Avengers Forever Trailer

Warning! Potential spoilers for Avengers Forever by Marvel Comics

Marvel Comics is about to explore the Multiverse in a big way in the upcoming Avengers Forever series, including introducing a new version of Mjolnir with powers related to vengeance. In a brand new trailer for the Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder series, Mjolnir has an entirely different message embedded in it, as it reads, "whosoever holds this hammer if they be worthy, shall possess the power of All-Vengeance."

Thor's enchanted hammer Mjolnir has largely had the same inscription on it since it was first introduced nearly 60 years ago in the pages of Marvel Comics. The hammer read, "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power... of Thor." Over time, slight changes have been made to the powerful weapon, such as Jane Foster's hammer reading, "if she be worthy" and the newest version of Mjolnir changing he/she to "they." Now, Marvel Comics is about to change the inscription to represent an all-new power across Marvel's Multiverse.

Marvel teased a new look at Avengers Forever #1 by Aaron and Kuder earlier this month. The series will star a variant of Tony Stark, known as the Invincible Ant-Man. Early previews have shown Stark will also get his own version of Mjolnir as he prepares to fight against the Multiversal Masters of Evil, who are looking to collapse the Multiverse on itself. In a brand new trailer for Avengers Forever, readers get a glimpse at a different version of Mjolnir featuring an all-new inscription. In the trailer, Mjolnir sits in flames, as it reads whoever is worthy of it possesses the power of "All-Vengeance."

It's not entirely clear if the Mjolnir from the trailer is the same one Tony Stark will wield in the series. Although, it would make sense if that were the case. But, the biggest question is whether the hammer is connected to the Spirit of Vengeance and if it grants the wielder similar powers to the Ghost Rider. Given the numerous versions of Mjolnir across the Multiverse, it seems Avengers Forever is setting Tony Stark up to become the ultimate defender in the Multiverse as a hybrid hero with unrivaled powers.

What's so exciting about Avengers Forever is the story appears so big that it's hard to guess where it might go. What seems true is a variant of Tony Stark appears to be leading the charge against the Multiversal Masters of Evil, but beyond that, the story could go any direction it pleases. Throwing a new version of Mjolnir connected to the "All-Vengeance" is another tantalizing tease for what's set to be an epic Marvel Comics series. Avengers Forever arrives in comic book shops on December 22, 2022.
