The Witcher Season 1 Recap Video Released Ahead Of Season 2 Premiere

Netflix releases The Witcher season 1 recap video ahead of the season 2 premiere this month to refamiliarize audiences with the fantasy drama. The streaming series is based on the book series of the same name from Andrzej Sapkowski, with season 1 specifically adapting the prequel short story collections The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. The plot revolves around Geralt of Rivia, one of the last of his monster-hunting kind, as he ventures through the medieval land known as the Continent and finds his destiny interlinked with that of Cintra Princess Cirilla.

Henry Cavill leads the cast of The Witcher in the titular role alongside Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as quarter-elf sorceress Yennefer and Joey Batey as traveling bard Jaskier. Developed by Lauren S. Hissrich, the series has been a hit for Netflix since its late 2019 debut, scoring mixed-to-positive reviews from critics but becoming the second-most watched Netflix show behind Stranger Things season 3. Hissrich and Netflix have since begun building out the franchise, including the forthcoming season 2, an already ordered The Witcher season 3, a live-action prequel series and anime prequel film.

As the time draws nearer for the show's return, Netflix has released a Witcher season 1 recap video ahead of the season 2 premiere. With nearly two years having passed since the show's premiere, The Witcher season 1 recap video comes at a perfect time for audiences who have let the world of the Netflix series slip from their mind. The biggest element of the first season the video properly catches viewers up on is the multiple timeline nature of the show's first chapter, with the series ultimately culminating into one single timeline in the final few episodes with the Battle of Sodden Hill. This battle against the Nilfgaardian forces to prevent their invasion of the Northern Kingdoms would lead to Geralt finally coming into contact with Ciri and realizing his destiny is truly intertwined with hers.

As the show nears its return, audiences remain eager as ever to sit down for The Witcher season 2 after the lengthy hiatus from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic delaying its production. Though the first trailer for the new season left some with a bad taste in their mouth for its use of a Kanye West track, many found their anticipation level rise for its teases of more monsters for Geralt to battle and a hopeful reunion for he and Yennefer after her seeming demise in the Battle of Sodden Hill. The wait for The Witcher season 2 is nearly over as the series returns on Netflix on December 17.
